The Connemara sean nós tradition is full of songs sung to jig and slip jig melodies. Unfortunately the majority of them only have an A part to the melody making it harder to adapt them as tunes. These have two parts though. The first and third ones actually come from two recordings of Joe Heaney singing the song Whiskey ó Roudelum over two different melodies, supporting the theory that older melodies are often “borrowed” to fit to the words of songs. You are likely to hear more of these nice melodies if you listen to the lovely playing of Johnny Óg Connolly.

Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman
