I hope these hop jigs are half as fun to listen to as they are to play! The first is the melody to which a children’s song is commonly sung. You can quite easily find nice recordings of Joe Heaney or Elizabeth Cronin singing it. The second is one I learnt from the flute and whistle player Pádraic O Ceannabháín, a good friend who gives me so much in terms of music. I have known Pádraic since he judged at the very first feis ceoil I played at in the early 1990’s and he remains a compass and grounding for my musical taste today. The third one is quite a well-known tune, the appeal of which I had sort of forgotten about until I was asked by a dancer to play it a few years ago.

Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman
